  • Each oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day.
  • Oysters are very healthy for you. Each oyster contains approximately 14 calories, 0.5g of fat, 1.42g of protein, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, 16% of your daily intake of vitamin D, 67% of Vitamin B12, 19% selenium, 46% copper, and 125% of zinc! And that’s one oyster!
  • Oysters don’t filter pollution. Oysters filter fresh algae and phytoplankton and clean the waters of all natural turbidities.
  • Oysters have been around for 265 million years!
  • • Oysters can change their gender in the course of their lives! No one is sure how and there’s no way of telling which they are until they’re ready to reproduce!
  • Maritime oysters can take up to 5 years to grow to “choice” (3”) market size. That’s a lot of waiting…
  • If Oysters are so great for the world, why do we eat them? Oysters are the one food source in the world that the more you eat them the better it is! Oysters need us to reseed and repopulate their environments. It’s all up to the farmers to do this now and with each sale, they have more ability to buy and plant more oysters. Keep eating!
